Forman Winery

Founded in 1983 by Ric Forman, Forman Winery stands as a testament to a personal dream of producing classically made, small-batch wines. The winery is strategically located on a ridge at the base of Howell Mountain, overlooking St. Helena, embracing the European Old-World tradition in its winemaking practices. The 11-acre vineyard is segmented into three parcels, cultivating four Bordeaux varieties: Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot, and Petit Verdot. The most extensive parcel is uniquely positioned on a three-million-year-old riverbed, with parts of the vineyard reaching into areas rich in volcanic rock, adding a distinctive terroir to its wines.

The Wine

Option 1

Wine Notes

Cases produced: 1,827

Makeup: 76% Cab Sau, 10% Cab Franc, 5% Petit Verdot & 9% Merlot

Color: deep ruby red – a classic Bordeaux style wine

Taste: Very integrated flavors black berry and tobacco meshed with mint-violet overtones from the petit Verdot. Toasted oak brings it all together smell and finish. A lot going on very complex wine

We had a great time at Forman. The views were amazing. The hosts were great and helped us distinguish between the notes.
